Cat-Tastrophe Adoptions
When you adopt from Cat-Tastrophe, you are bringing home a cat who has already been cared for, loved, and protected. Many of our cats have survived traumatic situations. Our goal is to provide safe homes that match their needs and personalities. You will often see gratitude in their eyes as they reach out to thank you.
What to Expect
-
Most cats and kittens have received veterinary care before adoption. This may include vaccines, spay or neuter when age appropriate, and other treatment depending on the cat’s condition and needs.
-
We ask an adoption fee of $500, which offsets the rescue cost and veterinary care.
-
We require you to complete an Adoption Application to ensure a good fit between cats and their humans. We reserve the right to decline an application if it is not the right match for the cat.
Ready to Adopt?
Step 1
Choose a Cat
Go to our Available Cats page and read each cat profile carefully. Each profile includes notes about personality, medical status, and availability.
Step 4
Proof of Residence
We require proof that you own your home or have your landlord's permission to have a cat. This is a simple step that protects cats from future surrender situations.
Step 2
Schedule Meet & Greet
After you choose a cat you are interested in, contact us to schedule a meet and greet. We will confirm availability and coordinate the next steps.
Step 5
Meet & Greet
Spend time getting to know the cat. Some bond quickly and others need a little time (especially if they are recovering from past trauma and are slow to trust). We will be honest about what each cat needs.
Step 3
Adoption Application
Fill out our Adoption Application. This helps us match cats to the right homes and keep everyone safe.
Step 6
Adoption Day
If approved, we will finalize the adoption, collect the adoption fee, and go over care instructions. We are always available if you have follow-up questions after adopting.
Adoption Fees
Our adoption fee helps cover rescue and medical expenses: vaccines, spay/neuter procedures (when age appropriate), microchipping, medications, and treatment for illness or injury. This fee is not refundable.
The unfortunate truth is that adoption fees alone do not cover the full cost of veterinary treatment and recovery. Donations keep our rescue running, especially when cats need urgent or ongoing medical care. We keep our required adoption fee as affordable as possible, while allowing our organization continue saving lives.
